St Giles double

ST GILES are queens and kings of the Scotiabank Jim Wedderburn Zone in the National Primary Schools Athletics Championships.

Spearheaded by the Applewhaite sisters Tianna, Tia and Tania and joint victrix ludorum J’Nia Edwards, St Giles were runaway winners of the girls title yesterday for the third straight year with 227.70 points.

Such was their dominance on the Ryan Brathwaite Track of the Usain Bolt Sports Complex that they doubled the 108 points which Reynold Weekes gained in finishing second.

The St Giles boys made it double delight in the day’s final race when their lion-hearted anchor runner Shawn Jack nipped Reynold Weekes’ Azaan Bennett, who got the baton ahead of him in the Under-13 4×100-metre relay.
