Stuart: Let the courts decide
LET THE COURTS DECIDE and don’t get unnecessarily agitated over the issue involving Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler and Central Bank Governor Dr DeLisle Worrell.
That’s the advice to Barbadians from Prime Minister Freundel Stuart, who says that after all, Barbados’ isn’t the only place where a similar thing has occurred and eventually resolved.
Stuart made the comments yesterday in the wake of reported efforts by the bank’s board of directors and Sinckler to fire Worrell or get him to resign voluntarily. He was in New York to attend the 30th anniversary cocktail sip of the Friends of Barbados DLP Association, an overseas branch of the ruling Democratic Labour Party.
He told the DAILY NATION in an exclusive interview at the Golden Hall of St Gabriel’s Episcopal Church in Brooklyn, that the highly publicised issue – which some analysts warned could shake investor confidence in the Central Bank and the island’s economy – didn’t come as a surprise. (TB)
