Board looking ahead
MEMBERS OF THE BOARD of directors of the Central Bank are looking forward to working with a new Governor.
That was the reaction of at least one Central Bank director yesterday following news that the Appeal Court had cleared the way for Governor Dr DeLisle Worrell to be fired by Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler, after the court lifted the temporary injunction imposed by High Court Justice Randall Worrell. The Appeal Court refused to impose another one as his legal team had argued while they attempt to take the matter to the Caribbean Court of Justice.
But in an immediate response last night the board member said, “There is a sense of relief that the bank can move forward and play its role in helping to address the urgent economic challenges facing Barbados.
“I am very sorry to see Dr Worrell go in such circumstances in an otherwise brilliant career.” (GE)
