Disabled workers focus of scheme

THERE NEEDS TO be further inclusion of people with disabilities into the workforce.

The call has come from president of the Barbados National Organisation of the Disabled (BARNOD) Colbert Ashby who spoke to the media yesterday during a Congress of Trade Unions and Staff Associations of Barbados (CTUSAB) press conference.

Ashby said that the disabled community was as much a part of the country as anyone else and while citing the achievements of people such as Senator Kerryann Ifill, Ashby called for more recognition to be given to those with disabilities.

In addition to this, the BARNOD president said more disabled workers could be given other opportunities within their workplaces if they could not fulfil their original role. (AD)
