THE BARBADOS TURF Club (BTC) is pleased with the turnout at this year’s Sandy Lane Barbados Gold Cup.

This was communicated by chief executive officer Rosette Peirce when speaking to NATIONSPORT at the 36st staging of the race at the Garrison Savannah on Saturday.

“I am happy with the turnout at this point. We had a very early start – 11:30 a.m. – and we still had a good crowd which surprised me,” she said.

Peirce revealed that the first spectator entered the doors from as early as 9 a.m. which was quite normal since people sought to secure parking.

“Parking is always an issue so that is why people come as early as they possibly can.”
