THE ESTIMATES WERE laid in the House of Assembly today and debate kicks off next Monday, but the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) is still hoping to influence the ruling side on certain matters.
General secretary of the BLP Dr Jerome Walcott said they called Saturday’s protest march on the eve of the Estimates debate to see if they can “entreat” the Government to do something about the economic, garbage collection, health care and housing situations as well as “the general feeling of apathy and helplessness in the society”.
Walcott was speaking to the media during a site visit at Jubilee Gardens this morning. He gave the assurance that they had got police permission for the 4:30 p.m. march, which starts and ends in Jubilee Gardens.
After the march members of the BLP and members of the public will have a chance to voice their concerns about issues affecting the society during a rally. (YB)
