GOVERNMENT IS COMPULSORILY acquiring more land for housing.
St Lucy Member of Parliament and Minister of Housing Denis Kellman said the state was taking control of 2.9 hectares or 7.1 acres of land at Brighton, St George, for housing purposes.
While not indicating how much Government was paying for the property or specifics on the housing solutions that would be offered, Kellman said that given the current economic times, it was important for the state to put provisions in place to cushion the effects of the present situation.
However, he contended that the administration had been moving for some time to shift some of the revenue that was going to private contractors back to the National Housing Corporation (NHC) through its housing projects, which drew the fire of St George South MP Dwight Sutherland. (GE)
