Transportation problems for the disabled

TRAVELLING AROUND BARBADOS continues to be a struggle for people with disabilities.

That is the word from president of the Barbados National Organisation of the Disabled (BARNOD) Colbert Ashby, who has lamented the lack of proper transportation for those in the disabled community.

With BARNOD hoping to raise $30 000 in their fundraising walk entitled Walk A Mile In My Shoes on March 25, Ashby said the majority of money raised would go towards assisting with transportation.

“The thing about it is that this money wouldn’t just go to sit on the bank to make interest. This money is going towards transportation, because that is one of the most challenging areas within the disabled community,” he said. (RB)
