WESLEY HALL JUNIOR SCHOOL will be closed for the rest of the day to allow police to conduct investigations.
Principal Herbert Gittens told NATION Online he received a call from some of the teachers who are at school early indicating one of the doors was open and some of the louvres had been prised.
He said both buildings at the King Street, St Michael school had been broken into.
Gittens said they informed the police and are awaiting the arrival of the forensics team. Since this is expected to “take some time”, the Ministry of Education has advised the school be closed.
“We have not noticed any major damage. Some cupboards have been prised open and the teachers’ drawers were searched. No major items are missing that we have seen, but fortunately, they did not access the principal’s office,” Gittens said.
Parents and guardians are asked to collect their charges. Some have already started to do so. (SAT)
