NUPW head: We will support all members
IT DOESN’T MATTER if you are a Bee or a Dee. If you are a member of the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) you will be supported.
Minutes after it was announced that he had blown away the challenge of Roy Greenidge by 1 053 to 556 to retain the presidency of the NUPW in Wednesday’s elections, Akanni McDowall pledged to represent the union’s entire membership.
In his victory speech, McDowall promised to put the needs of members first.
“This union is a political institution, but it is a political institution for workers. We have members from the various political parties, with various political affiliations. When we go forward, we represent people who are members of the Barbados Labour Party and who are members of the Democratic Labour Party and others who may be members of an undecided party. (RB)
