BARBADOS won two silver medals in the team competition at the junior Caribbean Table Tennis Championships in Guyana.
Both the boys’ and girls’ Under-18 teams qualified for the final but ended up on the losing end on Sunday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall in Georgetown.
The boys’ team, comprising captain Tyrese Knight, Dorian Walcott, Ramon Jackman and Marcus Smith, advanced to the final with a 3-0 victory over Trinidad and Tobago but lost the championship match against Dominican Republic with a similar scoreline.
Barbados’ girls – captain Janae Lewis, Marissa Alleyne, Jazel Griffith and Kenady King also had no answer to Dominican Republic and went under 3-0 in the final.
The boys’ Under-15 team of captain Ramon Maxwell, Ronico Sealy, Tre Riley and Reshon Goddard had to settle for fifth place after losing a play-off against Guyana.
The players will now turn their attention to the singles and doubles competitions. (HG)
