A hard row to hoe

WILLEMSTAD – New head coach Adrian Thorne is neither downright disappointed nor despondent with Barbados’ display at the Flow CARIFTA Games which ended Monday night.

Thorne said he always set high standards but it was unfortunate there were sub-par performances from some on Barbados’ 28-member team, notwithstanding the tough conditions in Curacao.

Barbados gained just 12 medals – four gold, four silver and four bronze– their lowest medal haul in the last four years after gaining 16 medals in 2014 and 2015 and 20 last year, including six gold, six silver and eight bronze.

“The guys for the last five days were in a battle. We had some illnesses in the camp but they did fairly well with what we had. It was one of those years that we didn’t have it,” Thorne said. (EZS)
