LOCAL ATHLETICS isn’t changing course on Mary Fraser.

The Athletics Association of Barbados (AAB) has defended the decision to leave the popular middle distance runner off its CARIFTA Games squad, citing her late registration and failure to reach the qualifying marks for Curacao.

“Everybody in the AAB knows of Mary Fraser’s ability and quality and we only want the best of her, but we are governed by specific rules and our registration opens from October, so she cannot turn up in March just a week before BSSAC after everyone has competed and expect us to know what form she is in,” said Lynch.
