New school in the works

BY NEXT YEAR, construction on Barbados’ newest secondary school will start at Searles, Christ Church.

At an estimated cost of $30 million, the new sixth form school is set to be a green-focused institute.

Yesterday, Minister of Education Ronald Jones said Government had acquired eight acres of land close to Coral Ridge Memorial Gardens for its construction.

While not in a position to disclose the school’s intended name, Jones said that Government had given the okay for the site and school. (AD)
