‘Nip terrorist threats in the bud’

CHIEF OF THE OFFICE of Security Cooperation in the United States Military Liaison Office, Lieutenant Colonel Jorge Jaramillo, says any terrorist threat to the Caribbean must be defeated “before it shows up”.

He made the point while revealing there were efforts to track the movement of Caribbean nationals attracted to the radical group ISIS.

The US military official, who was in Barbados Tuesday for preliminary meetings associated with the upcoming Tradewinds 2017 Exercise, said part of that joint US/Caribbean initiative was “a show of force”, giving regional military forces an opportunity to practise and “to show anybody out there that is not well intended, that the United States with all its partners is willing to protect all its citizens.
