HUNDREDS OF LOCAL business practitioners are still in a meeting at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, discussing ways to help Barbados out of its current financial crisis.
Almost 200 people from a variety of business sectors are sitting in the meeting, which started just after 4 p.m.
President of the Barbados Private Sector Association, Charles Herbert made an hour-long presentation to those in attendance, inclusive of a synopsis of a meeting held with Prime Minister, Freundel Stuart and members of his Cabinet earlier this week.Â
Herbert (at left) revealed that many aspects of Tuesday’s meeting have been deemed confidential, but noted that frank discussions were held with the powers that be.Â
Herbert also said the country’s private sector body stood ready to stand shoulder to shoulder with Government to final a feasible path towards reducing the island’s fiscal deficit, as well as coming up with innovative ideas to improve public sector efficiency and the foreign reserves.Â
The meeting is being attended by a number of renowned local business practitioners, along with small business associations. (BA)
