NEW DEMS CANDIDATE for the City of Bridgetown, Henderson Williams, wants the Baxters Road Mall back as a key component of the Crop Over Festival.

In his first speech to Democratic Labour Party Bridgetown branch members and supporters last night, Williams said he had already started dialogue with the National Cultural Foundation (NCF) on returning the once-popular street event to Crop Over as soon as possible.

Williams said he had also spoken to a number of residents and business owners in Baxters Road in recent months and they had all indicated that reintroduction of the event could spur economic activity in the area.

Addressing an upbeat crowd at the Wesley Hall Junior School yesterday, Williams said he was there to work with constituents, and had nothing to hide from them. He also  introduced his mother, brother, girlfriend, ex-wife, two daughters, and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins to party faithful. (BA)
