THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH has reassured Barbadians that it fully supports vaccines being administered by private doctors, as well as through the island’s polyclinics.
It gave this reassurance in response to an article in yesterday’s Daily Nation entitled: Warning about Vaccine Providers, based on an address delivered recently by a senior medical official to mark Vaccination Week in the Americas.
In a statement issued today, the Ministry stressed that all vaccines imported into Barbados and used by both the private and public sector were “safe, reliable and effective”.
“The address urged parents, when seeking information about vaccines online, to be guided only by reputable vaccine authorities, such as the Ministry of Health, the United Nations Children’s Fund, the Pan American Health Organisation, the World Health Organization, and the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention,” the Ministry clarified.
Members of the public were also urged to seek information on vaccines from the polyclinics, private doctors or the Ministry. (Ministry of Health/BGIS)
