MINISTER OF FINANCE Chris Sinckler has defended his ministry in the face of claims of cost overruns at some Government housing projects.
When the House of Assembly debated the Crown Lands (Vesting and Disposal) Act Cap 225, London Bourne Towers yesterday, Sinckler refuted claims by one Opposition MP that there were cost overruns at the Grotto housing project.
He said he was prepared to defend his position before the Auditor General who expressed concern about the matter in his report on the Special Audit on the National Housing Corporation high-rise apartments at The Grotto and Valery, St Michael, last September.
In that 2016 special report submitted to the Speaker and laid before the House, Auditor General Leigh Trotman indicated that a proposal was submitted by the developer of the Grotto project for the construction of 60 units and 84 car parking spaces at a cost of “$27.85 million. (GC)
