SEVERAL INDIVIDUALS USED used yesterday’s Heroes Day race day at the Garrison Savannah to capture the spotlight.
Heading the pack was jockey Rickey Walcott, who topped the jockey chart by landing a brace as the Barbados Turf Club’s first season of racing concluded on a firm track.
Also in the party mood were Gay Smith’s Princess Tiana, jockey Antonio Bishop and trainer Edward Walcott Jr, as that mare upgraded her consistent place form to move smoothly into winners enclosure when taking the featured Right Excellent Sir Grantley Adams Handicap over 1 570 metres.
Sitting at the back of the four-horse field behind the early pace setters, Apparition, Inwon and Arrowhead, Princess Tiana quickly went by her opponents who had little to offer in the home stretch.
