THE UNITED STATES has pledged its commitment to deepening its cooperation with the Caribbean region to combat all threats.
However, US Ambassador to Barbados and the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States Linda Taglialatela was firm that for the Caribbean to combat new threats a collaborative effort was needed to develop an expanded list of strategic border control action plans.
She made the comments while addressing security professionals from across the region as well as Panama, France, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States at the US Customs Border and Protection (CBP) Border Security Professional Exchange seminar held at the Hilton Barbados this week.
Taglialatela explained that ties between CARICOM and the US had evolved over the years to incorporate not only agreements on trade and travel, but also on enhanced security and cooperation. (SDB Media)
