Over 4 000 visit ‘Heroes’
THE NUMBER OF VISITORS to the Museum of Parliament has more than doubled so far for the year, but it is still a “well-kept secret among Barbadians”.
So said Ruth Linton, facilities coordinator at the museum, which is located in the West Wing of Parliament.
The museum houses not only artistic representations done by local artists of the ten National Heroes, but lays claim to displaying some little known but valuable artefacts associated with political icons of the island, including the Father of Independence Errol Barrow.
The museum looks at the political history of the island from current times back to when Parliament was established in 1639. But despite this wealth of history and its very central location, said Linton, very few Barbadians seemed to know of it.
