THE ISLAND’S PATTERN OF SPENDING can be blamed on its 339 years of colonialism, says Prime Minister Freundel Stuart.
It is because of that history, he said, that Barbados was grappling with high expenditure associated with sectors like education and health.
Stuart made the statement on Saturday night as he addressed the Democratic Labour Party’s (DLP) gala and awards ceremony to mark the party’s 62nd anniversary.
The gala, held at the George Street Auditorium, brought together candidates, incumbents and supporters for more than three hours of entertainment, music and presentation of awards. (HLE)
