35 locals certified by Sandals training programme
THE SANDALS Barbados Hospitality Training Programme (HTP) recently certified 35 local students who are now ready to share their knowledge in the hospitality industry of Barbados.
The programme was designed to give Caribbean nationals an opportunity to build the requisite skill sets needed for the hospitality industry, and is geared towards providing technical and soft skills training in various areas of hotel operations.
General manager of Sandals Barbados, Fernand Zievinger, congratulated all of the successful participants and urged those who will be moving on from Sandals, to take their newfound skills and make a difference in the workplace while becoming consummate professionals.
“What you have learnt over the past ten weeks no one can take from you. We at Sandals pride ourselves on being the best, and the only way we have achieved this over the years is by having the best staff. To see young Barbadian faces here today ready for the challenge assures us that when we are ready to find people for Sandals Royal Barbados we won’t have to look too far,” said Zievinger.
The programme runs for ten weeks, through which trainees work five days per week on a shift system to allow them to get the full hotel experience. Those successfully completing the programme are entered into a database in Sandals’ Intranet, which is accessible to all resorts within Sandals Resorts International. (PR)
