Skins get last laugh
ARMANI BEST suffered the agony of falling one run short of a century but later enjoyed the sweet thrill of victory after powering Skins XI to a comfortable win by 43 runs over Ox N Dem in the final of the second annual Oyee Brathwaite Twenty20 Cricket Tournament at Rices, St Philip, on Monday night.
Skins XI, who won the toss, opted to bat first before a rapidly burgeoning crowd. They amassed an imposing 233 for five and then held Ox N Dem to 190 for four in what turned out to be a one-sided affair.
Ox N Dem enjoyed their brightest period in the early stages of the match as youthful fast bowler Chemar Holder removed experienced Barbados player Kenroy Williams and Aaron Jones by the third over.
The floodgates soon opened, though, as opening bat Best was joined by skipper Ashley “Skins” Nurse in a third-wicket stand that added 73 runs in just 6.4 overs.
