Worry over weapons in schools

A VETERAN LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER has revealed that students are arming themselves with all kinds of weapons because of bullying.

“Children, they are arming themselves with weapons because of bullying and because of other social matters that they have,” Constable Vernon Forde said.

The officer of 23 years applauded the teachers for operating in such an environment and said they may have to “arm” themselves with the appropriate knowledge and skills to protect themselves.

Although guns have emerged as the weapon of choice in society, he said the most “dangerous” one – the cellphone – is being overlooked.
