SEVERAL STUDENTS were saluted yesterday for their talents at the Abundant Life Assembly during a National Children’s Service to launch Child Month.

There was a range of talent showcased by students, ranging from song to dramatic skills at the Bank Hall, St Michael church.

One of the students who wowed the crowd was 12 year-old Oriyon Morgan from the Seventh Day Adventist Secondary School who expressed the point of view of love from a child’s perspective and how it should be showed.

“How do we know that adults love us? “he asked.

“Do you show love by the many times you take us to popular fast-food restaurants? Do you show love by giving us the latest cellphones and gadgets? Are you showing love to us by giving us the latest brand clothes and shoes? Is it love when you allow us to speak to you, however we please, as though we are on the same level?”

Morgan reminded the adults present that the actions they teach would go a long way to determine the future generation; that children live what they learn and learn from what they live. (SB)
