Foul smells hurting Oistins folk

HOURS BEFORE the start of their biggest night of the week, several vendors operating at Oistins Bay Garden in Christ Church were last night faced with a serious threat to their businesses.

For the last three weeks, vendors from at least six stalls have been battling against blackish, foul-smelling water that has been settling around nearby drains.

Vendors at the popular hotspot who spoke to the SATURDAY SUN yesterday said that not only were customers complaining of the stench, but the health authorities had also been investigating.

They have also criticised the National Conservation Commission (NCC), saying it was not doing an effective maintenance job at the facility, given the problems, which also included nearby broken benches.
