LENDL SIMMONS marked his first appearance in the 2017 Indian Premier League by reaching a significant milestone in style yesterday.
The Trinidadian batsman became only the second player to score 1 000 runs in the Twenty20 tournament – the first was Australian Shaun Marsh – during an impressive 66 off 43 balls for Mumbai Indians.
Simmons linked up with countryman Kieron Pollard, who smashed an unbeaten 63 off 35 balls, to propel Mumbai Indians to a challenging total of 212 for three. It paved the way for a crushing victory by 146 runs and a place in the play-offs.
