UK family’s struggle to get home
THE HARRHY FAMILY have been coming to Barbados for more than 40 years, but they could not imagine their latest trip was going to be a nightmare.
Things went wrong from the start when 87-year-old David Harrhy collapsed during the flight with his wife Margaret, 84, and son Christopher, 46, from their home in South Wales to Barbados.
Their relative, Istvan Racz, then had to fly from Wales to try and arrange his family’s return home.
“My family left the UK (United Kingdom) on April 18 on a British Airways flight when my uncle took a turn for the worse. He collapsed and had to be given oxygen. From what I gather, the flight crew thought it better to take him back home, but it was determined logistically this couldn’t happen, so he was brought to this hotel,” he said. (CA)
