THE 2017 COMMUNITY Independence Celebrations officially kicked off last night at the King George V Memorial Park.
Under the theme Celebrating Community Spirit: Inspiring Strength and Unity, hundreds of Barbadians from communities across the island braved intermittent showers to help launch the national community-based programme.
While Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth Ruth Blackman welcomed the audience, the performances stole the show. (AD)
