IT MATTERS TO MARIA: No place to call home
THEY SAY A MAN’S HOME is his castle, and Grantley Alleyne certainly felt that way about the house he grew up in.
However, in 2009, that house was demolished by the Ministry of Health and now Alleyne has joined the growing list of homeless men living on the streets in Bridgetown.
The 58-year-old said the Urban Development Commission (UDC) was supposed to rebuild a house for him, but up to this day that had not materialised.
He explained that he lived in Industry Road, Bush Hall, St Michael, with his grandmother and grandfather, who raised him for many years. The two lived until 103 years and 99, respectively. (MB)
