Musical treat for mothers

IT WAS A FITTING TRIBUTE to mothers and one they enjoyed at what has become an eagerly-anticipated annual event.

The congregation which filled the First Baptist Church on Constitution Road, The City, on Sunday, Mother’s Day, was treated to an evening of nostalgia as they got to not only listen, but sang along to the many favourite songs of praise and hope. This was very evident when that standard Great Is Thy Faithfulness was sung with voices raised in harmony.

Hymns My Mother Taught Me was once again an occasion of pure delight for all present – performers and presenters, the little ones and the mature women and men who came out to salute the mothers in the nation.

This event, held by the church as part of its outreach and ministry in song, was undertaken in conjunction with Cancer Support Services as part of efforts to raise funds to help its ongoing work in the community. This charity not only reaches out to assist people afflicted by cancer, but their relatives who must also cope with the various challenges it presents. (RL)
