THE GRANDE SALLE of the Central Bank of Barbados, situated at Church Village, The City, will be carrying a new name by year end.

It will be that of Sir Courtney Blackman, the bank’s first governor, who held the post from its inception in 1972 until 1987.

Acting Governor Cleviston Haynes made the announcement as he joined Prime Minister Freundel Stuart, Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler, and former governors Calvin Springer and Dr Marion Williams to celebrate the bank’s workers at its 45th anniversary awards and dinner at the Barbados Concorde Experience on Saturday night.

Haynes paid tribute to all the governors whose vision helped shape the bank as a centre of excellence. (SDB Media)
