TWO TEENAGERS, who admitted their part in the brutal beating of a Lester Vaughn student have been remanded, one to HMP Dodds and the other to the Government Industrial School, Dodds.

A third student, a 15-year-old girl, who pleaded not guilty to the same charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm was put on $500 bail.

All three are expected back in the District “D” Magistrate’s Court Monday before Magistrate Ian Weekes.

The boy,14, and Kavia Smith, the 16-year-old girl were taken to prison moments after the hearing. They are expected to return for sentencing Monday.

The prosecutor was Sergeant Derwin Thompson.

The public was outraged after viewing the savage beating on social media last week. It showed a 15-year-old girl fleeing her attackers and being kicked and cuffed about her head while on the ground outside the school.

After it went viral and was picked up by the Nation newspaper, the public outrage turned to sympathy for the victim. Readers responded by making donations to the victim’s medical expenses. (AC)
