THE INVESTIGATION into the death of a 34-year-old man in police custody is at an advanced stage, and the results will soon be handed over to the coroner.

Acting Commissioner of Police Tyrone Griffith told the SUNDAY SUN the force was awaiting the toxicology results of an autopsy which was conducted on the body of Corey Best. Those results will determine if Best had any alcohol or drugs in his system at the time of his death.

After that, Coroner Manila Renee will be the person responsible for determining if there was any criminal wrongdoing that led to Best’s death.

“The investigation is at an advanced stage, as we are only awaiting the toxicology report and a statement from the deceased man’s mother, since she was the person who identified his body at the station,” Griffith said. (BA)
