Man held in million-dollar drug find

A 33-YEAR-OLD St James man has been remanded to prison in connection with the seizure of more than 600 pounds of cannabis at Paynes Bay Beach, St James. 

Gregory Leon Holder of #66 Husbands Terrace appeared in the Holetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday accused of possession of cannabis, trafficking and possession with intent to supply. 

Police say officers acting on information went to the beach on May 26. Holder was allegedly spotted dragging a number of polythene bags along the beach with other people.  

They ran away when approached by police but Holder was apprehended.  

The bags were subsequently searched and the cannabis discovered.  

It weighed 620.4 pounds and had a street value of $1 128 000. (PR/NB)
