Country birthed out of crisis, says Pilgrim

YESTERDAY WAS 30 years to the day that former Prime Minister and National Hero Errol Barrow died.

And Democratic Labour Party (DLP) general secretary George Pilgrim has urged Barbadians to remember one important lesson learnt as a result of the challenges Barrow faced: Barbados was built out of crisis.

Speaking at the DLP headquarters before the unveiling of a commemorative plaque for Barrow, Pilgrim spoke of Barrow highly and said the National Hero was representative of change.

As he recounted Barrow’s journey from barrister to politics, Pilgrim explained that Barrow faced an initial crisis of sorts when he went to England to study and encountered a rigid class structure and racism. (AD)
