Cops probe threat on Facebook

POLICE HAVE LAUNCHED an investigation into a Facebook post encouraging gunmen to “ambush” and “shoot at” the people raising taxes.

In a weekend filled with shootings, two of them fatal, the cryptic early morning post apparently targeted policymakers in a message to “all shooters”.

It was unclear how many of the politicians involved in last week’s Financial Statement And Budgetary Proposals were aware of the so-called directive but a source said a number of them had been alerted via WhatsApp.

Police confirmed that the matter had been reported to them and it was considered criminal. (AC)
