Fewer 11-Plus students

FOR THE SIXTH TIME in seven years, the number of students taking the Barbados Secondary Schools’ Entrance Examination has taken a nosedive.

And Minister of Education Ronald Jones is blaming the low birth rate in the country.

He was speaking at his ministry’s Constitution Road, St Michael headquarters yesterday morning, when the results of the test, popularly called the Common Entrance or 11-Plus, were announced.

During the past three years, Jones has made calls for Barbadians to have more babies to help grow the population. (RB)
