IT WAS A PIRATE’S BOOTY – gold, gold and more gold.

By the end of Tuesday night, the Barbados Culinary Team to the Taste Of The Caribbean competition in Miami had a treasure chest filled with gold plates and medals.

The 2017 team was the same group which last year watched in disappointment as Trinidad and Tobago walked away with the coveted top prize of Caribbean Team Of The Year, plus five other gold medals and two silver medals. Then, Barbados only won two gold, five silvers and a bronze medal, though chef Damian Leach won the sought-after Caribbean Chef Of The Year title.

On Tuesday, Barbados went to the podium nine times again – but this time for six golds, a silver and the coveted Caribbean Team Of The Year and Caribbean Bartender Of The Year. (NS)
