St Margaret’s cooks up winning stew

WHEN THE three primary schools in St John contested the iaugural Errol Barrow Cooking Challenge, put on by the Democratic Labour Party, it was not only a display of competency in the kitchen, but also an educational activity.

On Thursday, three Class 3 students each from St John’s Primary, St Margaret’s and Mount Tabor Primary battled it out in The Lodge School’s home economics room showed their skills in preparing entrées from a basket of ingredients.

However, the all-boys squad from St Margaret’s Primary did enough to defeat their rivals.

Each group had to prepare Caribbean chicken stew with a starch and side dish of their choice within an hour and a half. (SB)
