BARBADOS’ SENIOR ATHLETES returned home from the all-state National Senior Games Association’s Multi-sport Senior Games in Alabama, the United States, with a cache of silverware befitting champions.

When the Barbados Seniors and Masters Athletic Club (BAMSAC) team landed at the Grantley Adams International Airport to loud cheers from friends and family, no one was regaled more than the outstanding Erma Thornhill.

The evergreen athlete Thornhill had captured gold in the 50, 100 and 200 metres events. She also teamed up with Beverley Beckles, Pearl Yearwood and Sandra Murray to claim silver in the 4×100 for the 60-64 age category.

Yearwood also gained silver medals in the 50 and 100 metres in the 65-69 age group. Murray was fourth in the 100 metres. (KB)
