In response to numerous calls and complaints, The WEEKEND NATION continues this series looking at abandoned Government buildings that are eyesores and health hazards.

THERE IS A surprising amount of land on the site of the old hospital along Jemmotts Lane.

There are also a surprising number of empty, rotted out structures dotting that land, which ironically falls under the Ministry of Health.

For many years, this area has been an eyesore, with many people wondering what exactly will be done with the area. In truth, the walls of many of the buildings remain strong and it is thought that with enough money and sweat, functional structures could be placed there again.

It is not completely empty, however, as it is the location of the rodent bait distribution centre – although one may wonder if any of that bait is kept for use around the property – and a much newer research facility for the health ministry. (CA)
