Sinckler to talk social levy

MINISTER OF Finance Chris Sinckler will engage several of the island’s key stakeholders on Monday to discuss the National Social Responsibility Levy (NSRL) and how it will impact them, according to Minister of Commerce, Industry and Small Business Development Donville Inniss.

There has been an outcry from various sectors since the hike in the levy from two to ten per cent by Sinckler, announced during his Budget presentation on May 30.

Inniss’ disclosure came yesterday during a discussion organised by the Barbados Renewable Energy Association at United Nations House, Marine Gardens, Christ Church.

“You have my assurance that sometime within the next seven days the Ministry of Finance, and this is based on conversation this morning with the Minister of Finance, that there will be discussion with several stakeholders including the energy sector, to bring clarity to the issue. (LK)
