SHAQUON HENRY AND and southpaw Nicholas “Nik-Nik” Ellis starred respectively for Ellerslie Secondary and St George Secondary when the inaugural Secondary Schools road tennis championship continued yesterday at Blenheim.

Both talented players were in fine form to  lead their schools to the top of their respective zones and advance to the quarter-final round.

Henry, who shared out three sows, was the top performer in an Ellerslie team that comprised Justin Vaughn, the son of veteran road tennis Anthony “Ears” Mitchell and Terry Rollock jr, the son of former YMPC and Barbados cricketer Terry Rollock.

Henry beat Raheem Eastmond of GIS 21-6, stopped Keon Forde of Combermere 21-8 and then brushed past Lester Vaughan’s Jared Straker 21-3. Rollock was just behind Henry in performance after Vaughan was beaten by GIS’ impressive R’Son Knight-Watts 21-14. (KB)
