QUEEN’S COLLEGE ARE the new Barbados Secondary Schools Netball League champions.

The lasses from Husbands, St James captured the title with an impressive 13-8 win over Christ Church Foundation after leading 6-4 at the half. Reana Gill with 10/16 and MVP Liana Leacock with 3/9 carried the offence for the winners.

Desalene Callender with 3/4 and Mari Greenidge who shot just 2/7 carried the hopes of the Church Hill girls. They, however, were outplayed by QC’s midcourt and the duo of Rashanna Gill and Zakila Coppin who denied or limited CCFS’ shooting.

After a slow start Foundation began to challenge their bigger opponents but faded in confidence and attack with QC maintaining their grip on the game. It was a case of battling for an honourable loss that saw Foundation moving to reduce the margin of defeat. (KB)
