AG: Warders free to go to court
MINISTER OF HOME AFFAIRS Adriel Brathwaite has no problem with the prison officers taking their issues to the law courts to have them resolved.
He said: “I sat with the prison officers, I said to them please send me a list of your concerns, they sent to me a list of their concerns one day with a writ the following day. So I said what foolishness is this you don’t give us a chance to actually try to address your issues.
“So I have taken the position that is what the court is there to do, if you want to take us to court then you are free to take us to court. I don’t have a problem with it one way or the other.”
Brathwaite made the comments in response to a question from the media on how the issues being raised by the officers in the Prison Service were being addressed. (LK)
