CEO: Keep taxes off smartphones
THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER of Promotech Barbados, Kailash Pardasani, is calling for smartphones to remain duty-free.
He said that if such devices are taxed, Barbadians would be left behind the rest of the world.
“We rely heavily on Government’s policy writers to work alongside the private sector to guarantee success for our country and our people.
“We understand that tough decisions need to be made by the Government in order to sustain the country’s viability. However, taxing duty-free items such as laptops, desktops and further taxing devices such as smartphones only hinder our long-term growth as a country,” Pardasani said. (TG)
