GG thanks staff with awards

SHARING AND CARING were a dominant feature of his five-year tenure as Governor General of Barbados.

Yesterday, Sir Elliott Belgrave continued in this fashion as he surprised staff of Government House, his official residence, with a special gathering and award ceremony.

With Lady Belgrave by his side, the 86-year-year Sir Elliott shared one last memory with his staff.

Private Secretary to the Governor General and administrative officer Sandra Watkins said that with five days before he demitted office, Sir Elliott decided to have light refreshments with staff and hand out gold, silver and bronze Governor General Medals of Honour. (AD)
